2017 NEWS - Kassandra Bossell

 

I am the happy recipient of an Australian postgraduate scholarship for my Master of Fine Art by Research at UNSW Art and Design.

I am in the process of applying for a transfer to PHD at UNSW working with joint supervisors from art and science.

I have been selected for the

North Sydney Art Prize

I have been commissioned to create a sun dial, 'Time of the Planet' for CoLABS, an initiative between Art Futures and Western Sydney Parklands in September 2017. I will be working with an astronomer, an engineer and an ecologist to create public art for the parklands.
CoLABS presents a fusion of art and science, where two cultures collide and STEM-inspired artforms transform Bungarribee Parklands. 2016 NEWS - Kassandra Bossell

 

This year, Kassandra has begun an MFA (Research) at UNSW Art and Design in Semester 2 as a full time student.

 

In February, her work was selected to be shown in the Eco Arts Conference 2016 at the Centre for Innovation, Woollongong Uni, Woollongong.

 

In March, she was awarded a grant to produce Wing Tunnel for Art on the Greenway, public art for Leichhardt Council and in June was selected as finalist in the International Women's Art Prize, See St Gallery, Meadowbank.

 

In May, Travelodge Hotel in Phillip St, Sydney commissioned Kassandra to produce a series of 8 abstract flight sculptures, which were installed in their inner atrium.

 

In July, Kassandra received an honourable mention in Exhibeo's Bioshere: Life on Earth online competition with Crawling Cilliate. As a consequence, she will be reviewed in Exhibeo Art Magazine's "Artists of Interest" in the Autumn Edition as well as in their upcoming book Exhibeo: Selected Art Reviews and Interviews, vol. 3”

24 Sep – 9 Oct Hidden Rookwood Cemetary Sculpture Walk, 'Wing Tunnel'

HIDDEN – A Rookwood Sculpture Walk is an outdoor sculptural exhibition that steps outside the notion of mainstream galleries and typical outdoor sculpture exhibitions. Rookwood is the oldest, largest and most multicultural cemetery in Australia, and HIDDEN invites the public to experience the historic and cultural significance of this iconic site.

The exhibition at Manly Art Gallery & Museum presents the collaborative artworks and installations of the twenty artists and scientists who are part of this innovative creative project. It is the culmination of 12 months of investigating, experimenting and interrogating ideas and science inspired by Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park; from The Lab camp (February 2016), the Site Findings event at Eramboo (April 2016), studio residencies at Eramboo developing works and numerous visits to the National Park.
